The largest college in the Seven Sisters group, Smith College was founded in 1871 and is located in the city of Northampton, Massachusetts. The college is women-only at the undergraduate level, but becomes a co-ed at graduate level.
With a relatively small student body of just under 3,000, Smith College is consistently ranked as one of the best liberal arts colleges in the United States. The college has some fairly illustrious alumni, including world-famous chef Julia Child, legendary poet Sylvia Plath, and famous activist Gloria Steinem.
