Located in West Point, New York, the United States Military Academy is often referred to as just West Point. A coeducational institution, it was established as early as 1802 following plans drawn up by President Thomas Jefferson.
Those who study there can attain a Bachelor of Science degree as well as learn military leadership and take part in competitive athletics. Getting accepted isn’t easy, though, since the acceptance rate is just 9.5%. The U.S. Army takes care of the full tuition, in return for an active duty service obligation.
