George obviously has a penchant for producing scripts that are far too long. Revenge of the Sith runs for almost two and a half hours. But, the original cut of the film was over four hours in length, with the opening rescue of Palpatine running an hour in length. Unsurprisingly George Lucas had to cut it down for the theatrical release.
