[post_page_title]The Queen’s ‘annus horribilis'[/post_page_title]
1992 was not a good year for Queen Elizabeth, leading her to dub it her “annus horribilis” (Latin for “horrible year”). In that same year, three of her four children – Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, and Princess Anne – worked to end their marriages.
If that wasn’t horrible enough, Anne went against tradition and remarried later that same year despite the fact her ex-husband was still very much alive. It was the first time a monarch’s child remarried after divorce. To top off the cherry on the worst sundae of all time, a fire broke out in Windsor Castle.
