In 1973, Queen Elizabeth’s daughter Princess Anne married Mark Philips. It seemed to be a match made in heaven, as the two loved horse-riding. In fact, Philips was an Olympic gold medalist in the sport. Despite having two children together, they separated in 1989.
Two years later, it had come out that Philips fathered a daughter in 1985 from an affair he’d had with a New Zealand art teacher. A DNA test proved that he was, in fact, the father, and the paternity suit filed by the girl’s mother ended the marriage – and made worldwide headlines.
