Life didn’t start out great for Rihanna. Her father had a severe substance abuse problem that put a strain on their home life, the stress of which affected the singer’s health.
Fortunately, things improved for RiRi once music came into her life. As she entered her teenage years, the possibility of becoming a singer seemed too enticing to resist. It wasn’t long before a record producer discovered her in Barbados and flew her over to the US to record some demos. Those tracks eventually ended up in Jay-Z’s hands.
