While it sounds surprising, the historically-rebellious Harry isn’t the only royal to go against his superiors’ wishes, specifically those of Prince Philip. Believe it or not, but Prince William has done it before. The future king is often as straight-laced and dutiful as they come, but when Philip expressed his desire that William join the Navy, William reportedly “stood his ground” and refused.
At the heart of the matter was his budding relationship with Kate Middleton, and Philip’s alleged desire to separate the two. Not wishing to be away from the woman who’d become his wife, William flat out refused, going to the Sandhurst Royal Military College instead.
