Consoling the Queen hasn’t been Prince Philip’s only contribution in the crisis, however. According to reports, Harry and Meghan initially hoped to work out an arrangement allowing them to remain part-time royals. Philip, who sacrificed his own naval career for the monarchy, wasn’t having any of it.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams speculated that it was Philip who pushed for an all-or-nothing approach, and then later advised the Queen to strip Harry of his military titles and both Harry and Meghan of their HRH titles. While unconfirmed at yet, it certainly sounds pretty on-brand for him.
