This massive change to the Swedish monarchy apparently reflects a growing belief that the royals are paid too much. There are allegedly increasing concerns that too many members of the Royal Family receive funding, hence the sudden cull of titles.
The fewer people there are working on behalf of the monarchy, the better it is for taxpayers. Evidently, the public doesn’t feel that there need to be over a dozen people on the payroll, especially when some of them can’t even talk yet. Hopefully, this change will ease people’s concerns.
