The plot hole in Armageddon was so big that even the star of the movie, Ben Affleck, asked director Michael Bay about it. The movie is about a group of miners who have to be trained to be astronauts so they could go to a meteorite hurtling towards earth, drill into it, and place several nuclear bombs into it, thus saving the planet.
The problem – it would have taken a lot less time to train astronauts to drill than miners to become astronauts. When Affleck mentioned this, Bay told him angrily to be quiet.
