As we mentioned earlier, Patrick’s father suffered from severe PTSD due to his years fighting in World War II. Sadly, because of his experiences, Patrick’s father, Alfred, was actually abusive towards his mother, Gladys. Patrick would witness the domestic abuse and grew to be extremely devastated by it. Patrick later campaigned against domestic violence. Patrick is most notably connected to Refuge, an organization for the protection of domestic abuse victims.
