Despite Johnny’s personal fortunes picking up somewhat, he would also go on to make one or two bad investments. Perhaps the most notorious of these was his investment in the Delorean Motor Company.
Fronting the company money in 1975, Carson seemingly presumed – as did the company’s founder, John Delorean – that the Delorean sports car would quickly become the automobile of the future. Unfortunately, the Delorean undersold disastrously, becoming the only car the company produced before shutting down just seven years later, in 1982.
