As might have been gleaned from several failed marriages, Carson was hardly an ideal husband. Despite the fact that his marriage to Copeland had ended due to her affair, he himself had not been entirely faithful. In fact, Carson was said to have had several affairs across all three of his marriages.
In addition, his insecurity and inability to be open with people made it hard for his wives to connect to him, and made their relationships untenable. However, in 1985 Carson married Alexis Maas, and their relationship would last until his passing in 2005.
