Because of the freezing cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, many of the victims in the water either died from hypothermia or heart attacks. Of course, there were many people who reached the lifeboats in time and were floating away to safety at this point, but many of them recollect the horror and the magnitude of the disaster. Although they wished they could help those in need, there were simply no lifeboats free to save them, or no way to stop the sinking ship.
