Handrails that are installed next to steep flights of stairs are meant to keep people safe by offering them something to hold on to. While kids may often pretend that those rails are actually prison bars, no one is ever actually stuck on a flight of stairs.
That of course is not true for this handrail, however, which appears to keep people from either getting to the door at the bottom of the stairs. It also somehow manages to keep them from getting to the floor that the stairs lead to.
