He could have easily blamed Lex for what happened. After all, she was the one who crawled out of the car and quietly went off to the bathroom. He was busy filling up the tank, how was he to know she was no longer sleeping in the back? Surely she could have told him where she was going?
But he didn’t do that, just like she didn’t yell at him when he finally came back to the gas station to look for her.
