Since that interaction, Gabourey has thought about her conversation with Beyonce, and she can’t help but wonder why she didn’t feel as though she could accept the singer’s compliment. Although she likes to believe that it was because she was raised to be humble, she knows that it runs much deeper than that. At the time, she wasn’t happy with her own appearance, and she didn’t want to accept a compliment from someone when she didn’t believe it herself. Nevertheless, she now knows that it’s okay to feel okay and be proud of her achievements.
