The bariatric surgery was the first step to her weight loss journey, and she was able to use this event to spur on her next moves. She enlisted the help of a nutritionist to help plan her meals and maintain her portion sizes, and she even hired a personal trainer in order to get her body moving and her heart pumping. She was ready to put in the effort for the first time in her life, and she was going to do it on her terms. Gabourey was doing it for herself, rather than the people who put her down.
