In a 2013 auction, the bench Forrest sat on throughout the film as he was telling his life’s story, was sold for $25,000. The bench was then removed and put in a museum so the elements would not destroy it.
The bench was initially located in historic downtown Savannah, Georgia. You can go and see the bench for yourself if you ever happen to be in Savannah. The bench is currently placed in the Savannah History Museum.
