Princess Leia was one of the most beloved characters in the ’70s, both because of the epic storyline of the Star Wars films, and due to the fact that Carrie Fisher had very little on during certain scenes in the films.
Her role in the Star Wars Films made her an icon and favorite of the space opera genre. General Organa, or Princess Leia, depending on your preference for the films, gave Carrie the feminist platform she wanted to have.

Fisher had recently reprised her role as Princess Leia in the new installment of the Stars Wars film, The Force Awakens.
All too sadly though, Carrie passed away in December 2016 after a massive heart attack. Fans all over the globe were devastated to hear the news, as if the Princess herself had truly gone from the world.
