Kim played the adorable and quirky, Tootie! Tootie’s full name is actually Dorothy Ramsey, but most people knew her only as Tootie. Kim was just 10 years old when she started playing the role of Tootie, which is why she was constantly seen on roller skates – to make her look taller than she actually was, seeing as Tootie was supposed to be older than 10.
Tootie’s character was used to deal with many real life issues, such as racism and inappropriate behavior with children. Tootie was on the show from the very beginning in 1979, all the way through to the end of the show in 1988.
