Kenny’s father was a World War II veteran who returned from the war to find unemployment and emptiness in his life. He eventually turned to the bottle for comfort which led to a very tense home life for Kenny.
It was his father’s behavior that lead Kenny to be even more ambitious than he thought he could be. He didn’t want to be like his father and sit around all day feeling sorry for himself for being poor.
