At the time, 1999’s The Matrix was a game-changing blockbuster that’s been copied repeatedly ever since. It was also a clear case of getting too big for your britches, however, as the Wachowski siblings’ vision became ever more unhinged and ostentatious with every sequel.
Similarly, 2003’s The Matrix Reloaded should’ve given us one of the coolest fight scenes of all-time, as Neo battled a horde of Agents Smith (Agent Smiths?). It was cool when we didn’t know any better, but today Neo looks like a Stretch Armstrong doll left out in the sun too long.
