The eight movies in the Harry Potter film series were released over the course of a decade – 2001 to 2011 – and made $8 billion. At their best, they’ve given us CGI that stood the test of time and still looks impressive. We’re looking at you, noseless Ralph Fiennes.
At their worst, though… Luckily, the worst came in the first movie – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Though fine by 2001 standards, looking at the rabid troll that runs roughshod over Hogwarts today makes us wonder why they didn’t put in the finished version rather than the concept art.
