Garven’s character, Jade Sutherland was introduced in 2000 as a member of the Sutherland family who moved to Summer Bay from the big city.
This was the actress’ first role on Australian television. One of her storylines involved a revelation of being switched at birth.

Kate became a house-hold name. When she left the show at a fairly young age and she married director, Ben Field when she was 18.
The couple have three children together.
