It was on a day in May 2007 that the world turned upside down for Poling’s family. The officer was tasked with helping capture Joseph Harris, a man wanted in connection with several crimes. The department had established a traffic stop from which Harris attempted to flee, which forced Poling to take action. With the criminal trying to get away, he had no choice but to follow suit and hope he would catch up to him. That was the biggest mistake he’d ever made.
