One person commenting on Rachel’s post thought that maybe green marker learned the word “gentrification” from one of those word of the day calendars. We have to say that it’s entirely possible, as we can’t seem to find any link between the issue of people picking flowers and the trend of people with money moving into a neighborhood.
Gentrification, as Andrew pointed out, was a real issue. An influx of rich people drove up property prices, and drove away original residents. It just didn’t have anything to do with uprooting flowers.
