Things are pretty quiet over in Brixton usually. This district of the British capital is one of the most happening, chic places in all of London, with a booming Bohemian art scene that has led to vintage stores, galleries, and pubs cropping up everywhere. As for the street itself, the average property there will set you back about £580,000, or $735,000, so you know the people living there aren’t exactly riff raff.
The population, in fact, is mostly made up of middle-class professionals who live in meticulously-kept terraced homes. David Bowie himself was born in Brixton, so that should give you an idea about the place. And then, in an instant, the street’s serenity was shattered. It was civil war.
