After the films amazing success, Barbara Walters sat down with Patrick for an interview. He danced with her and gave her the ultimate ‘Patrick’ experience. During this interview, Patrick revealed that he initially did not want to play the role of Johnny.
Patrick did not want to be as some hunky dancer that wins the girl – he was sick of being type cast. However, upon rereading the script, he realized Johnny’s role was much more deep than that – one of redemption and proving ones own worth against all odds.
