Actor Jerry Orbach, who played Baby’s father Dr. Jake Houseman in the film, was on Conan O’Brien’s late night talk show way back in 1997 and asked the audience if, for the 10th anniversary of the film’s release, they would like a re-release of the film in theaters.
The response from the live studio audience was so great, on top of that of the people watching at home, that the very idea came to fruition when millions of the film’s fans decided it was worth a try.
