The late Estelle Getty may have portrayed a believable mother in Golden Girls, but she was actually a year younger than her on-screen daughter, played by Bea Arthur (deceased). It took 45 minutes to prepare Getty to play a character that was 20 years older than she actually was at the time.
Regardless of how old the characters were, this show has made people of all ages laugh for decades and the hit comedy will probably always remain a beloved classic.
