Unfortunately, tensions on set meant that after three seasons, John Amos made his final appearance on the show. Sure, Good Times might have been written for John to appear as the star, but that didn’t mean he was safe from the ax.
Especially not when he raised his concerns about Jimmie’s character, J.J., becoming the star. At least his departure meant fans no longer had to watch the strange eight-year age gap between the two.
