The invention of photography came around in a more mainstream way in the mid-1800s and brought with it a relatively quick way of documenting history’s most important and emotional moments. While mobile phones are barely even used as phones by the younger generations these days, chatting on the phone used to be the absolute height of what was considered cool for the youth.

Here, a group of young ladies can be seen excitedly chatting on the phone in what appears to be a hotel’s phone room. Even more surprising, other girls seem to be happily waiting in line to get their turn. Imagine waiting in line to use a phone!
