If you were going to lose to someone, at least make it be Will Forte. The comedian and actor auditioned for season 28 of the show, and he allegedly lost a spot to Will Forte. It’s not quite clear what happened there, because according to Cook, he rejected the role as he didn’t want to be a ‘benchwarmer’. In any case, Cook’s career did manage to take off, and he has been invited to host the show more than once since then. In fact, he hosted the premier of season 32.
