After becoming so successful on the Bonanza, Dan Blocker became a star and many producers wanted to work with the promising actor. In 1970, director, Robert Altman thought Blocker would be a perfect fit for the lead role in MASH.
The director fought for him to get the part, but the producers refused to cast him. The movie turned out to be a mega hit and would have definitely given a push to Blocker’s career had he been cast.
