It’s not surprising how the retractable dog leash was invented by a New Yorker, after all, you really can’t walk through central park without running into hundreds of happy pooches. Mary A. Delaney, a New York resident who owned a dog, invented the retractable dog leash in 1908 which allows dog owners to control their dogs on one hand while letting them some freedom to wander on the other.
