The airport in Portugal is certainly different, having originally offered a 5,000-foot runway it soon became apparent that this was posing a real risk to even the most experienced of pilots, however it was how the runway was extended that was really strange!
Engineers extended the runway by 9,000-foot by constructing a massive bridge for the planes to now land on.
