A house truly becomes a home when you put your own personal touch to it. No matter whether you decide to go full Bobby Berk and re-design your home, or whether you just add a few photo frames here and there, adding your own possessions into the mix truly brings it to life. However, if you’re the kind of person that has a house full of items, adults, and kids, it can be hard to keep this house tidy. One minute you can see the floor, and the next minute it’s covered in toys. So, how do you keep your home organized?

Make the beds

There are two kinds of people in the world. There are those that feel no need to make their bed because they’re just going to jump right in it when they get home, and there are those who don’t feel like they’ve fully started their day until they’ve put the pillows in order. However, if you want to keep your home tidy and organized, making the beds is the best way to do this. Even if the rest of the bedroom is a bit of a mess, a clean and tidy bed will make all of the difference.

Fold the laundry

Let’s be honest; nobody likes doing the laundry. It takes such a long time to do, and every time you feel as though you’re making progress your kids dump another load on you. Because of this, many people just let this laundry pile up in front of the washer or pile up in the corner ready to be folded. This can be an eyesore and often stress you out, so put it away! It won’t take you long to fold the laundry and place the items back where they belong, and you’ll definitely thank yourself for it.

Go through and declutter

Do you ever just look around your house and wonder why you have so much stuff? The likelihood is that you don’t use half of the stuff in your home, and this causes a huge amount of clutter. So, it might be time to take a leaf out of Marie Kondo’s book and go through and declutter your home. Make your way through your house and ditch anything that doesn’t “spark joy” or have any use to you. It may be hard to part with them, but a decluttered home is an organized home.

Clean as you go

If you have a busy family home, it can often be easier to simply let the mess build up over the course of the day, before taking part in one almighty organizing event. Yet, many people only do half a job when it gets to the end of the day because they feel tired and unmotivated, and some even leave it until the next day. To stop this from happening, it’s easier to simply clean as you go. All you have to do is tidy up after yourself throughout the day, and you won’t even have to worry about the evening.
