Thoughtful mom gives out goodie bags to fellow passengers on 10-hour flight

Believe it or not, but people have been taking to the skies since back in 1903 thanks to the Wright brothers. These siblings were the first to ever have a controlled flight through the air on the Wright Flyer. It took just two years and three models until the brothers were flying their aircraft over major distances. This was about to change the world forever.

By 1919, KLM was the first airline to take to the skies, and now many more work together to carry millions of people all around the world. Although many of us have grown used to speeding through the skies on a plane, it looked as though we all had to start somewhere. Not everyone smiles with joy when they see a baby board their flight. However, a thoughtful mum hoped to change the way everyone viewed her little one once and for all.

An unexpected passenger

Many of us have flown over the years. In fact, it’s thought there are more than 1.2 million people in the air at any one time. Here, we all get to enjoy the wonders of sitting in a metal box surrounded by hundreds of other strangers all looking to go to the same destination.

An unexpected passenger

However, one woman was about to cause a storm as soon as she boarded the plane. Sometimes, we can’t help but sigh in panic as a baby board the plane. It looked as though this mom might just have an answer to help keep everyone else on the flight happy.

Not alone

The unnamed mom boarded her flight, but it wasn’t long before people realized that she wasn’t alone. That’s right; she had a four-month-old baby in her arms. It looked as though the woman had brought everything that she needed to make it through the flight. After all, looking after a young one on an airplane can be tough for many.

Not alone

We suddenly find ourselves trapped with strangers all wanting us to keep them quiet while parents try every trick in the book to soothe their little one. Perhaps that’s why so many parents feel unpopular on flights? Many of us see a baby and worry that the entire plane will end up having to listen to the young one scream the whole way. However, this mom had come up with a genius way to help out her fellow passengers.

A lengthy trip

It turned out this wasn’t going to be a short journey either. No, the flight was heading from Seoul in South Korea all the way to San Francisco in America. The 5,600-mile trip would take around ten hours and carry hundreds of people across the world. It would be a long time for anyone to fill, especially someone looking after a young one. It turned out that both mom and grandma were flying with the youngster to meet the little one’s aunt.

A lengthy trip

200 people soon became worried about the noise they might have to listen to throughout the journey. This was the young one’s first flight, and there was no telling how they would react. Thankfully, this mom had packed some extra baggage to try and make the whole trip that little bit better for everyone on the flight.

Making an offering

It wasn’t long before the mom started to hand out several packages to her fellow passengers. It turned out she had around 200 parcels that she had made to help everyone else on the flight in case her young one made any noise throughout the trip. This mom didn’t want to upset anyone else on the plane but explained that things might get a little noisy along the way.

Making an offering

She just hoped that the goodie bag would be enough for everyone to forgive any crying that might occur. That wasn’t all. The packages were all accompanied by a note explaining that she would try her best to keep the young one as quiet as possible and that she might not be successful. Thankfully, the mom finished off her note by wishing that everyone had a nice trip wherever they were heading.

A lot of thought

It looked as though the mom had put a lot of effort into what she would place inside her packages as she wanted everyone to enjoy their flight no matter what. As well as a cookie for those looking for a snack, the mom had also chosen a selection of candy to place inside the parcels. It was a long haul flight. Perhaps people would get hungry along the way? There was one final gift: earplugs.

A lot of thought

Not only could everyone now enjoy a peaceful rest, but they could also use the earplugs in case the youngster started to cry. Although it wasn’t everyone’s ideal situation to be on board a long haul flight with a young passenger, the mom explained how they were flying to meet their family. There was no way she could leave her little one behind. Hopefully, this could be enough for her to avoid any complaints.

Showing appreciation

The mom never expected to get any recognition for her offering. However, one passenger was so impressed by her thoughtful gift that he knew he couldn’t keep it to himself. Dave Corona soon uploaded a snap of the present to social media.

Showing appreciation

He just wanted to tell the world about the gesture to show the world that he and many of the other passengers aboard the airplane appreciated the lengths she had gone to ensure that everyone was happy.

Hundreds of comments

It wasn’t long before hundreds of comments started to flood in. Many spoke about how they felt as though it wasn’t necessary for the mom to go to all the effort of hand-making gifts to hand to everyone on the flight.

Hundreds of comments

Many of these believed the mom should have been left to enjoy her trip with her mom and child and shouldn’t have been worrying about what other people thought. After all, if she had paid her airfares then why shouldn’t she bring her young one along?

Breaking the barriers

Other people began to comment about how they believed it was a thoughtful gesture that had gone a long way with many of the other passengers. After all, the mom must have spent a lot of time creating the parcels before she boarded the plane.

Breaking the barriers

Some hoped this would be the start of breaking down the barriers that often form between parents flying with their children and the other passengers. Small apologies could be all it takes to help make everyone else’s flight more enjoyable.

Keeping quiet

Thankfully, Dave was one of the many who appeared to appreciate the gesture from the kind stranger. He believed that the mom had gone to a lot of effort to make the parcels and that her hard work should be recognized by others.

Keeping quiet

That wasn’t all. Dave also posted how “when you have kids expect the unexpected.” It looked as though he was speaking from experience. Thankfully, the young one didn’t make a noise throughout the duration of the flight.

Not the first

It turns out that the unnamed mom isn’t the first to have tried to make a peace offering when flying with their young one. Michael Rubinstein and Christina Diaz took the internet by storm back in 2012 thanks to their own note.

Not the first

The couple wanted to travel with their 14-week-old twin boys. However, they were both concerned about upsetting anyone else on the flight. It was the youngsters’ first flight, and there was a chance they might not enjoy their time in the air.

Blocking out the noise

What did they do? Thankfully for the other passengers, Christina and Michael had also spent many hours crafting packages to hand out to everyone else on the flight. Their parcels contained many gifts for everyone else.

Blocking out the noise

To top it off, the couple also offered earplugs to everyone in case anyone needed to block out the noise. They both just hoped that the twins wouldn’t cause any disruption for anyone else on the flight, even if they did get upset.

A public serenade

Just two years later, in 2014, Madeline was the one destined to cause a commotion while up in the air. It turned out the one-year-old was about to embark on her first flight with her mom and dad.

A public serenade

However, the parents had created their own packages to hand out as everyone, once again, was given a selection of candy and earplugs to help apologize for any harm caused. Many soon took to social media to try and spread the joy of all the effort they had gone to.

More accepting

All the parcels handed out by parents over the years have been enough to divide the internet. Some parents have spoken about how they feel as though other passengers should begin to make more of an effort to accommodate everyone else on the flight.

More accepting

They believe that no one should be made to feel uncomfortable if their child is crying. However, many also state how the gifts can go a long way to help make people more comfortable with a baby on the plane.

The start of a trend

Other people have spoken how this could be the start of a brand new trend – and not one that they want to see. It turns out that not everyone is a fan of handing out goodie bags when traveling with a young one on a plane.

The start of a trend

In fact, some state that it can make other parents feel as though they should be apologizing for their child no matter the costs when they have already spent hundreds of dollars to pay for the flight for them and their family.

A recurring theme

Some parents go even further with their arguments against handing out gifts to strangers. Many feel they are forced to apologize for their child’s behavior at many points throughout their lives.

A recurring theme

All those missed manners and public tantrums can be embarrassing for many and lead several to say “sorry” as a result. It seems as though many parents agree that they should be allowed to relax throughout the flight and may not have room for all the extra gifts for others.

Not their fault

So what can passengers do instead if they want to avoid any noise on an airplane? Many parents agree that it’s the job of everyone else to bring earplugs or noise canceling headphones and not the responsibility of the parents to block out any noise.

Not their fault

Some even go as far as to state they feel as though passengers shouldn’t be rewarded for not complaining about the noise. However, some passengers are now expecting parents to make these gifts.

Split opinions

Whatever the case, it seems as though Dave and many other passengers were thrilled to receive their parcel. The best bit? The four-month-old was so quiet throughout the flight that it appears as though this mom had no reason to worry in the first place.

Split opinions

Handing out goodie bags could be the start of a new outlook on babies flying alongside other passengers. However, it could also become another job to add to the list of things parents need to prepare before they travel.
