Did you know there are enough Volkswagen camper vans in the world that if you were to place them bumper to bumper, they would stretch all the way around the world? Wowza. So what is that makes these vehicles so popular? To start, their celebrity owners have helped thrust these vans into the limelight. Celebrities such as the British chef Jamie Oliver, baseball star Daniel Norris, and singer Robbie Williams are some of the many famous faces that love to get out and about in their vans. VW camper vans were first thought up in 1947 after a Dutch businessman named Ben Pon designed the new vehicle after visiting the company’s factory. Just two years later, Volkswagen announced their plans to get them on the road, and by 1950 the first van hit the asphalt. Now, there are over 9,500 Type 2 camper vans alone. Original vans can fetch thousands of dollars thanks to becoming an icon of the ‘60s and ‘70s. It looks as though nothing will ever destroy the love for the VW camper van.
Have you ever found yourself having to do a double take at a car? It could be the noise of the engine or a brave choice of paint that means you can’t stop staring. Whatever it is, some vehicles are just too hard to miss. People leave notes on other people’s cars all the time. It could be to let them know they have a light out; they might have bumped into their car and need to apologize, or could even have something to say about their driving. However, this teen left a not on a stranger’s van for an entirely different reason. Little did he know that 8 years later, he would receive a strange phone call. It might have seemed insignificant at the time, but little did anyone know that note could change his life forever.
