In this day and age of internet fame and instant global communications, it seems like Andy Warhol’s prophetic words from more than a half a century ago – “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes” – have finally come true. It really does seem like it doesn’t take too much to gain a small measure of fame anymore. However, that fame can quite easily turn into notoriety, leaving people with a bit more than they had originally bargained for.
And nowhere is the double-edged sword of fame more apparent than on social media. Social media presents us to the world; not necessarily as we truly are, but as we’d like to be perceived. It’s about as real as reality television, but we can’t seem to get enough of it, sharing snippets of our lives with complete strangers. This pair of Instagram “creatives,” for example, has made a living of it, until one photo got them into literal hot water.

Kelly Castille, 33, and Kody Workman, 32, are an American couple, in the sense that they’re originally from the U.S. – Kelly’s from Louisiana while Kody’s from Michigan. However, they first met while traveling in Panama in October, 2017.
At that point, Kody had already been traveling for 18 months, while Kelly was merely on her trip’s second day. They have been together ever since, traveling the world in style and documenting it all on their shared Instagram account, which they called positravelty. A recent photo, however, gave them serious negativitravelty.
