At summer, everything feels so much more spontaneous. You don’t have to carry around those big umbrellas to go outside. You can take an impromptu trip without having to pack up sweaters and coats. It’s also a good time to pile on the ice cream without feeling guilty about it (because summer is the time for ice cream!), and of course – getting some much welcome time in the sun.
Whether you like going to the beach and enjoying the warm sand, or prefer to lay on a poolside bed, summer is just the time to get that vitamin D soaked into our skin. Having some fun with your friends and family in the water is one of the best things about summer, which is why most beaches and pools are packed with people during the summer.
These days, when so many people follow social influencers on Instagram, we can sometimes feel pressured to have “the right look.” And the right look for the summer is all about being tanned. People think that if they look pale, they might be perceived as less healthy or like geeks who prefer to stay home than going to the beach. This pressure to look tanned can make people go out of their way to achieve that bronzed look.
Some people even attend their local tanning salon or go get a spray tan before summer even begins. They don’t want to be caught on their first day at the beach looking pale skinned, after all. This way they’re reading to don their bikinis and head to the beach already looking tanned.
But one of the most important things you need to keep in mind, is that the sun can also be dangerous for your skin. It’s better to apply some sunscreen on your body before you go out to bathe in the sunlight. Besides it being unsafe in the long term, spending a long time under the sun unprotected can leave you… well, not the color you quite expected.
Another important thing to consider, is that if some parts of your body are covered and other parts aren’t – it might result in some funny (or embarrassing) looking tan lines. The people in these photos didn’t really think things through before they went out to the sun, and ended up with ridiculous – and hilarious – tanning fails.
