These fishermen were drawn to a weird sound in the water but it wasn’t what they expected

Before we evolved into the civilized creatures we are today, humans used to hunt animals for survival. Now, we do it for sport. There are people in the world who find joy in hunting wildlife, although it’s not something we all like doing. While it can occasionally be seen as useful, such as when an area becomes overpopulated with a particular species, it has led to the endangerment and extinction of far too many animals. Luckily, for every person that enjoys hunting wildlife, there’s someone out there doing the opposite. It’s human nature to show care towards others, and not just those of our own kind. Plenty of us are animal lovers, which is why there are billions of pets in the world. It’s this kind of compassion that helps us save so many injured or abandoned creatures out in the wild, no matter how ferocious they might typically be. If you encountered an animal that needed help, would you turn your back on it? That’s something two fisherman had to ask themselves one day in 2015.

For years, the internet has been full of stories about people who have acted without hesitation to save an animal in need. Normally, if you were to see a lion or tiger in the wild, you’d want to run for your life. When they’re in obvious pain and not capable of attacking you, though, your instincts change. You no longer see the sharp claws and bared teeth, but rather someone that can’t survive without your intervention. Animals of all kinds have been rescued by unsuspecting humans, from dogs and horses to a 400 lb bear. The goodwill doesn’t go to waste either. Just as there have been many incidents of humans saving wild animals, the opposite is also true. From a Beluga whale who saved a diver from drowning to three beavers that kept a young, orphaned boy warm in freezing conditions, the animal kingdom is just as loving as the rest of us. Random acts of kindness clearly go a long way.

Some people might not think animals worthy of their time and effort compared to other humans, especially if it puts their own life in danger, but this just shows why our love should know no bounds. We may be more advanced than these creatures, but that doesn’t mean they’re not intelligent. These two Canadian fishermen were well aware of that when their day trip was thrown into disarray. It was just a normal day when a weird sound suddenly caught them off guard. They weren’t prepared for what was ahead of them, but they took it in their stride. With someone’s life hanging in the balance, it was act now or regret it for the rest of their days
